If you open any modern xianxia novel right now, these are the terms you will see by chapter 20:

  • Qi (氣 / ) — vital life-force energy that powers all cultivation
  • Dao (道 / dào) — the cosmic principle a cultivator comprehends
  • Dantian (丹田 / dāntián) — the body’s energy storage center
  • Meridians (经脉 / jīngmài) — the channels qi flows through
